The term "gabion" or the Italian term "gabbione" translates to "big gage". It is a double-walled fence construction of double wire mesh with two pillars or posts that lend the necessary stability to the gabion. The resulting wire basket can be filled with, for example, stones, marble, granite or glass breakage – depending on your taste and preference.
